Joint venture company with the West Indies Cricket Board

02/06/06 | Centrex Group
The Centrex Group today announced the creation of a joint venture company with the West Indies Cricket Board to develop their licensing, merchandise and memorabilia ranges.

The Centrex Group are excited by this expansion of their commercial relationship with the WICB as it provides the opportunity to utilise their expertise and knowledge not only in the creation and management of retail programmes but also in complimentary services such as customer services, product warehousing and internet consultancy and development.

The initial phase of the project will see the branding and development of 3 different merchandise collections – the main WICB range, a Windies sports and leisure range and a Select Legends range that will include a Sir Garfield Sobers series of merchandise.

Making the announcement on behalf of the Centrex Group, its Chief Executive Jim Whannel said, “The WICB is a global brand and should reflect the vibrant Caribbean culture and the long and distinguished history of West Indies cricket.  The Centrex Group relish the opportunity to influence and provide a merchandise range that will be indicative of this.”

The services provided by the Centrex Group will include the initial branding, design and development of the collections, stock warehousing and product fulfilment, customer services, marketing and sales.  The merchandise will be available initially through an online store catering for a global market although there are plans to sell the ranges in stores throughout the Caribbean region.

Dave Cameron, the Chairman for the WICB Marketing Committee commented, “We are delighted to be working with the Centrex Group on this joint venture.  We have been very impressed with their general approach to this project and the expertise displayed in the lead up to this decision.  This is an opportune time for the West Indies to launch this project as it places us in an ideal position to capitalise in the run up to the ICC Cricket World Cup, West Indies 2007”.
