There are three distinct parts to the proposal at Drumduff and Gowanbank. The three parts are however inextricably linked and are economically dependent on each other. The entire project has been designed with the intention of bringing the whole area back to the community.
Rehabilitation of the 49 hectare former opencast quarry at Drumduff as an outdoor pursuits centre will bring fishing, pony trekking and quad-biking, amongst other activities to the area.
The creation of a new bridle path to link Drumduff with Gowanbank. The bridle path would extend to approximately 1.5 kilometres in length and would follow the alignment of existing fields and plantations. This path would be fully accessible to the public and would extend the accessibility already provided through the AGLV by existing strategic foot and bridle paths.
The creation of six lowland crofts with associated stables, paddocks and SUDS pond at the 35 hectare Gowanbank site will give a strong impression of forming part of the post industrial landscape that characterises much of the countryside between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Falkirk.
